Regional governments are adopting a more collaborative approach to ensure the successful hosting of this year’s International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup tournament, to be held in the region and the USA.

Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell emphasized this stance during recent discussions.

At the just concluded Caricom Heads of Government meeting, talks revolved around strategies for hosting the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for June.

Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell of Grenada, while acknowledging potential challenges, affirmed Caricom’s dedication to ensuring the event’s success.

Mitchell stressed Caricom’s commitment to prioritizing fan security throughout the tournament.

Moreover, Prime Minister Mitchell underscored the profound impact cricket has in the Caribbean, highlighting its potential to enhance the lives of those involved.

Caricom Chair, President Irfaan Ali, outlined plans to establish structures benefiting the region’s sports development through competition.

Dr. Ali, Guyana’s head of state, emphasized discussions during the Caricom meeting regarding the potential social growth impact of sports on member countries.

The first step in this initiative will be a cricket symposium scheduled for April in Trinidad and Tobago.
