Caribbean Boxing Developmental Program to be Submitted to IBA Following Forum in Havana

The Caribbean boxing community is set to advance its developmental program to the International Boxing Association (IBA), the sport’s global governing body.

This announcement follows the recent American Boxing Confederation forum held in Havana, Cuba.

Steve Ninvalle, President of the Guyana Boxing Association, revealed that the next steps for the program’s submission will be determined by the Caribbean Boxing Association.

Ninvalle, who represented the Caribbean region at the forum, confirmed that the proposed program has garnered strong support from IBA President Umar Kremlev.

Kremlev has expressed enthusiasm for the project and committed to providing the necessary resources for its implementation.

Ninvalle emphasized the importance of the program from a personal standpoint, highlighting the region’s ambition to enhance its boxing standards.

The initiative aims to upgrade technical officers, including referees, judges, and coaches, addressing key areas of development within the sport.

Additionally, the program underscores the Caribbean boxing fraternity’s commitment to maintaining the amateur status of its athletes, with expectations to further enhance the sport’s infrastructure and training capabilities.

The submission of the Caribbean boxing developmental program to the IBA marks a significant step forward for the region’s boxing community, aligning with its goals of growth and improvement on the international stage.
