Camille’s Academy Partners with Nexgen Golf Academy to Introduce Golf to Students

February 6, 2025

In an exciting development for students in Guyana, Camille’s Academy has partnered with Nexgen Golf Academy to offer golf training to over 1,500 students across multiple campuses.

This collaboration will provide students at the Lusignan, Diamond, Soesdyke, and Crane campuses with access to high-quality golf training, equipment, and facilities at both Nexgen Golf Academy and the Westside Golf Course.

Camille Deokie-Gorakh, Founder and Director of Camille’s Academy, stressed the importance of a well-rounded education, stating that introducing sports like golf helps shape future leaders by focusing on holistic development.

“Incorporating sports is vital in developing well-rounded individuals who can excel in all aspects of life,” she said.

The initiative kicks off immediately, with Camille’s Academy students starting to learn the fundamentals of golf.

Grade 10 students are also preparing for the CSEC Physical Education examinations, set for 2026.

The program will feature exciting inter-classroom competitions, leading up to inter-school tournaments and the opportunity to compete in the National Junior Golf Championship in July 2025.

Aleem Hussain, President of the Guyana Golf Association, recently visited the Crane and Lusignan campuses to introduce the sport to students.

He was impressed by their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

The Westside Golf Course in Vreed-en-Hoop is now open to the public, offering free membership, while Nexgen Golf Academy, located on Woolford Avenue, remains the only lighted golf facility in the country.

Both locations offer equipment and qualified coaches to ensure that students, whether beginners or more experienced, have the resources to develop their golfing skills.

This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding sporting opportunities for students and fostering the growth of golf in Guyana.
