Budget 2024 Preparation Underway, Emphasizes Policy Continuity and Stability

Preparation of Budget 2024 continues

As the government gears up for Budget 2024, preparations are in full swing at the Ministry of Finance, with Oversight Minister Dr. Ashni Singh leading the effort.

The annual budgeting process is a continuous and meticulous undertaking, starting right after the passage of one budget and persisting until the presentation of the next.

During a recent visit to the Finance Ministry, Dr. Singh was seen engaged with senior functionaries, working collaboratively on the fiscal plan for the country.

The minister emphasized the importance of ongoing consultations with stakeholders, including the public, as a crucial aspect of the budgeting process.

The government places a strong emphasis on policy continuity and stability, with the overarching goal of enhancing the lives of every citizen.

Dr. Ashni Singh, who first presented a budget as Finance Minister in 2007 under the Bharrat Jagdeo administration, has been actively involved in national budgeting for an extended period.

He served as Director of Budget from 2001 until his elevation to the position of Finance Minister.

After the PPP/C government returned to power in 2020, Minister Singh resumed his role in shaping national budgets, with Budget 2021 being his first since 2014.

As the budgetary process continues, the government remains committed to fostering progress and improving the overall well-being of the Guyanese population.
