Brian Musum Secures Upset Victory in Fireworks Pink Edition Cycle Road Race

In a surprising turn of events, Guyana’s top cyclist, Jamaul John, faced an unexpected defeat on Sunday during the Fireworks Pink Edition Cycle Road race, organized by the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycling Club and the Guyana Cancer Foundation to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The race, spanning 30 laps around the Seawall Bandstand, Kingston, and Georgetown, witnessed Brian Musum of the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycling Club demonstrating exceptional performance.

Musum dominated for 19 laps, clinching multiple sprint prizes.

Meanwhile, Jamaul John secured the second position, followed by Britton John of the United We Stand Cycle Club in third place.

Enrique De Comarmond, who earned seven sprint prizes, took fourth place, with Curtis Dey and Adam Alexander of Trinidad and Tobago claiming fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

In a remarkable feat, Musum not only won the race but also collected 19 prime prizes.

The junior category saw Alex Leung emerging victorious, with Ajany Cuttins in second place and Aaron Newton in third.

In the 40+ category, veteran cyclist Robin Persaud triumphed, followed by Segun Hubbard and Horace Burrowes, all completing over 30 laps.

Additionally, participants in the veterans 50+, juniors, females, mountaineers, and beginners categories completed 10 laps.

Abigal Jeffrey secured the top position in the ladies’ category, outperforming Clevicia Spencer and Simone Sandy, who claimed second and third places, respectively.

The 10-lap novice category was won by Roy Mangru, with Paul Thomas securing second place.

In the juveniles category, Alex Newton clinched the victory, followed by Daniel Jiang in second place and Sidwell Sandy in third.

Keon Thomas emerged as the winner in the mountain bike category.

The race received sponsorship from BM Soat, Sleepin Hotel & Bike Shop, Monty Lewis, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Fitness Express, Royal Chicken, Prem’s Electrical, and Auto Toy Store, with additional kit support from Sherwin Williams, Colours, Anchor Cement, Rays Auto Sales, and the Professional Key Shop.
