In the ongoing One Guyana Basketball League playoffs, reigning club basketball champions, Bounty Colts, aim to maintain their undefeated status and clinch another title.
The team, which has been dominant since the league’s inception last year, is seeking to conclude their playoff campaign with yet another championship.
Head coach Willon Cameron expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting that remaining unbeaten has been encouraging for the entire squad.
He emphasized that over time, Colts have established themselves as the team to beat in the league.
Cameron attributed part of the team’s success to the infusion of young talent, describing it as a blessing that has positively impacted the trajectory of the unit.
The combination of experienced players and emerging talents has contributed to the team’s cohesive and competitive approach.
Led by captains Shane Webster and Shelroy Thomas, Colts secured an early advantage in the playoff series by defeating Kobras in the opening game with a scoreline of 66-51.
The team is now focused on maintaining their momentum throughout the series.
In other league action, Eagles, captained by national player Travis Belgrave, secured a 72-59 victory in their first playoff game.
The competitive nature of the league playoffs was evident in the Kwakwani Untouchables’ 70-64 win over Mambas and the Ravens’ 74-65 victory against Pacesetters in their respective series openers.
As the playoff action continues, Kwakwani Untouchables will face Mambas in Game 2, while Pacesetters seek to bounce back against Ravens on Saturday at the National Gymnasium hard court.
