Botofago FC emerged as the champions of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Year-End Futsal Tournament after securing a thrilling 10-6 victory over Milerock in the final, held on New Year’s night at the Retrieve Hard Court.
Botofago’s high-scoring triumph earned them the prestigious title, alongside a cash prize of one million dollars.
Milerock, though falling short in the final, collected five hundred thousand dollars as the runner-up.
In the third-place match, Capital FC claimed a dominant 16-8 victory over Winners Connection.
The standout players of the tournament were Marley Haynes of Botofago FC, who was named the Most Valuable Player and took home a trophy along with fifty thousand dollars.
Botofago’s Omali Castello was awarded Best Goalkeeper, receiving a pair of new gloves and thirty thousand dollars, courtesy of Benny King Welding and Fabricating.
Meanwhile, the prize for Most Goals Scored, a trophy and fifty thousand dollars sponsored by Stebros Construction Supplies, went to Milerock’s Colwyn Drakes, who netted an impressive 11 goals during the competition.
