Amidst concerns over flooding in the Casuarina Drive area, BOSAI Minerals has taken proactive steps to alleviate the situation and bring relief to motorists in Linden.
Recent heavy rainfall had led to flooding along one of Linden’s main thoroughfares near the Linden Electricity Company at McKenzie.
This flooding had become a significant issue for commuters, particularly taxi operators who reported damages to their vehicles after navigating through the flooded streets.
Upon recognizing the problem, BOSAI Minerals swiftly intervened to address the issue.
Wainwright Bethune, the Technical Services and Environmental Coordinator at BOSAI, identified the accumulation of debris along the road shoulders as the primary cause of the flooding.
He explained that this debris was clogging the culverts, preventing efficient water drainage.
In response, BOSAI initiated immediate measures to tackle the problem. Their efforts included the excavation of a wide drain to facilitate better water runoff.
This initiative aims to provide a more permanent solution to the recurring flooding issue.
Bethune assured that BOSAI would continue to maintain the drain to prevent future incidents of flooding.
Following BOSAI’s intervention, there was a noticeable improvement in the situation, with minimal water retention observed in the area even after subsequent heavy rainfall.
This proactive approach by BOSAI has been welcomed by the community, as it not only addresses the immediate concerns but also lays the groundwork for long-term flood prevention measures.
