Board of Industrial Training Launches Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator Training in Region Six

On Tuesday last, the Board of Industrial Training inaugurated its Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator Training program in Region Six, with an impressive turnout of over 370 eager applicants. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Labour Ministry’s Board of Industrial Training and the Finance Ministry, facilitated through the Basic Needs Trust Fund.

The training, slated to span three months, will take place in New Amsterdam, Upper Corentyne, and Central Corentyne. Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, proudly reported that from 2021 up to the present, more than 1600 individuals have received training through the Board of Industrial Training in Region Six. The investment in these training programs amounted to an estimated 754 million dollars.

Upon completion of the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator Training, each participant will be presented with a certificate and a license issued by the Guyana Police Force. Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh, affirmed that similar training programs will be extended to all regions with a demonstrated need.

David Armogan, Chairman of the Board of Industrial Training, emphasized the critical role such training plays in meeting the growing demand for skilled labor, particularly with the influx of major businesses in Guyana. He encouraged more Guyanese to seize these training opportunities, enhancing their capacity for gainful employment.

This endeavor stands as a testament to Guyana’s commitment to advancing its workforce and bolstering its position on the global stage.
