BIT Launches Four Training Programs as Part of 2024 Cycle

Seventy individuals from Region 10 are set to commence training with the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) as part of its 2024 training cycle.

The programs, launched today at the Linden Technical Institute, include Heavy Duty Machine Operation, Electrical Installation, AC Servicing and Repairs, and Commercial Food Preparation.

The initiative, organized by the BIT under the Ministry of Labour, aims to expand the technical and vocational skills of young individuals across the country.

This effort is part of the government’s broader commitment to investing in human capital development, according to BIT CEO Richard Maughn.

During the launch, Maughn encouraged the new batch of trainees to be persistent, curious, and collaborative to succeed not only for personal financial gain but also for the benefit of their communities.

The training programs have attracted 70 participants from Linden and surrounding areas in Region 10, including Moblissa, 47 Miles, 58 Miles, and Three Friends Mines.

Of these, 35 will be trained in Heavy Duty Machine Operation, 14 in AC Servicing and Repairs, 10 in Electrical Installation, and 10 in Commercial Food Preparation.

Yolanda Grant, Chief Recruitment and Manpower Officer, assured the trainees that the training will create employment opportunities.

She emphasized that the Ministry of Labour’s recruitment and manpower agency is ready to provide support upon the completion of their training.

Debra Cornelius, who will support the 19 trainees from her community of Moblissa, highlighted the significance of this opportunity for young people.

She expressed optimism about the positive impact the training will have on the trainees’ future prospects.

The launch of these programs marks a significant step in providing valuable skills and creating employment opportunities for the youth of Region 10.
