Residents of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, engaged with officials from the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security during a community outreach held on Tuesday.
Key issues discussed included domestic violence, child protection, and recreation opportunities for the community.
The outreach, spearheaded by Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud, provided residents the opportunity to address their concerns, particularly regarding pension collection points, programs for individuals with disabilities, and the possibility of organizing community leisure days.
Minister Persaud emphasized the importance of awareness surrounding domestic violence and highlighted the consequences for perpetrators.
Several ministry divisions, including the Domestic Violence Unit, Child Protection Agency, Family Services, and the Difficult Circumstances Unit, participated in the event.
The outreach also extended its services to the communities of Success and La Bonne Intention.
