Bethany Village in Region Two Receives New Excavator to Enhance Community Development

Bethany Village in Region Two has been gifted a state-of-the-art, extra-long boom excavator from the government, valued at approximately 45.5 million Guyanese dollars.

The equipment was officially presented to the residents over the weekend and is expected to play a crucial role in improving the village’s drainage system, aiding local farmers in land clearance, and promoting overall community transformation.

Residents expressed their enthusiasm for the new excavator, highlighting its potential to drive growth in the area.

The equipment is anticipated to greatly benefit the farming community by enhancing agricultural practices and facilitating better land preparation.

Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha emphasized the government’s commitment to developing drainage and irrigation (D&I) infrastructure across the country.

He noted that an additional 24 million dollars will be allocated for drainage improvements in the region.

Furthermore, he announced that local community members would receive training on how to operate the excavator, ensuring that residents can maximize the benefits of this new asset.

The Toshao of Bethany Village, Natasha Latchman, shared that the excavator is expected to assist between 100 to 250 farmers, both within the community and from neighboring areas, providing a significant boost to agricultural productivity.

With the introduction of the excavator and ongoing support from the government, residents of Bethany Village are optimistic about the future development of their community.
