Residents of Beterverwagting on the East Coast of Demerara are expressing optimism about the future of their community after a productive engagement with Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo over the weekend.
The meeting allowed villagers to voice concerns and discuss key areas of development.
During the session, the residents raised a range of issues, including challenges related to drainage and irrigation, the need for sports development initiatives, and the desire for greater youth involvement in local projects.
In response, Vice President Jagdeo assured the community that their concerns would be addressed promptly and that necessary works would be undertaken without delay.
Residents welcomed the opportunity to share their thoughts and expressed confidence that the promised actions would be fulfilled.
Marlon Jacobs, a local resident, shared his satisfaction with the meeting, noting that Vice President Jagdeo had emphasized the importance of quick action on these matters, which was well-received by the villagers.
Several others echoed similar sentiments, including Omari Glasgow, a national footballer, who mentioned that the Vice President had previously committed to engaging with the community and had returned to fulfill that promise.
Additionally, a resident who previously struggled under the past administration expressed gratitude for the current government’s economic policies.
As a building contractor turned scrap metal dealer, the resident highlighted how the easing of economic restrictions had allowed them to achieve greater financial success, including owning multiple vehicles and equipment.
Vice President Jagdeo also took the opportunity to outline a number of upcoming projects and initiatives aimed at benefiting Beterverwagting and surrounding communities.
The residents are now looking forward to seeing the promised developments materialize in the near future.
