Berbice Pensioner Succumbs to Injuries after Minibus Collision

Berbice pensioner died nearly a week after he was hit by a speeding minibus

Seventy-Three-year-old Walter Jaundoo of Epson Village, Corentyne, tragically passed away at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital on Thursday, nearly a week after being struck by a speeding minibus.

According to his wife, Jeanette Jaundoo, Walter was returning home on his bicycle after a day of labor in the fields when the accident occurred.

He reported seeing a minibus rapidly approaching from behind, but continued on his journey and was ultimately hit.

The minibus driver, reportedly an off-duty police officer, promptly transported Walter to Port Mourant Hospital, from where he was later transferred to New Amsterdam.

Despite receiving medical attention, Walter’s injuries proved fatal.

Jeanette Jaundoo, grieving and anguished, recounted the extent of her husband’s injuries.

Walter suffered two fractures in his foot, severe blows to his back and abdomen, and significant internal bleeding.

She expressed her deep sorrow and called for justice for her late husband.

Although the incident was reported to the police, they only visited the family after Walter’s passing.

Jeanette Jaundoo fervently hopes that a thorough investigation will lead to accountability.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
