A friendly hang on Sunday evening turned deadly after a 34-year-old fisherman of Glasgow Housing Scheme, Berbice, tragically lost his life during an altercation with a fellow fisherman at Albion Front, Corentyne.

The dead man’s 30-year-old wife has been left devastated by the incident and hopes for a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her husband’s demise.

The deceased has been identified as Franklyn Sauers, called ‘Franky’, of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, who was allegedly stabbed several times by a fellow fisherman.

Police said that on the night in question, the suspect was at his Albion Front residence when Sauers reportedly entered the house, during which an altercation ensued.

Police ranks subsequently responded to the location, where Sauers was found lying motionless in the living room with apparent stab wounds to his neck and left rib area.

He was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead.

His wife, 30-year-old Verone Sehadeo shared that after she received the news about the incident, she quickly went to the location where she made the gruesome discovery.

I take my son and we ride and when I go I see my husband car park in front of the house. It was still on. I drop the bike on the parapet and I rush inside and when I rush inside there was a guy sitting in front on the concrete and I seh shortman way Franky, way Franky. He just put down he head and raise he hand and he point inside and shake he head like this and when I rush inside there was a knife on the sink and when I turn my husband lie down in a pool of blood,” she explained.

Sehadeo says she remains in disbelief, particularly because the deceased and the suspect were close friends and workmates.

She described her husband as a hardworking man who dedicated himself to providing for his family, especially hisonly son.

She is now hoping that justice will be served.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and escorted to the Albion Police Station, where he was placed in custody.

An investigation is ongoing.
