Berbice Cricket Board Honors Legends with Launch of Wall of Fame at Tain Campus

In a historic move, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled its “Wall of Fame” at the University of Guyana’s Tain Campus, dedicated to honoring Berbicians who have made significant contributions to West Indies cricket.

A collaborative effort between the BCB and the university, the wall’s inauguration saw the induction of the first batch of 31 legendary cricketers, both male and female.

President of the BCB, Hilbert Foster, expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing the board’s commitment to developmental programs that elevate cricket in the region.

He highlighted investments in youth development, including 30 bowling machines, six batting cages, cricket gear, pitch covers, and coaching manuals.

Foster affirmed that the “Wall of Fame” serves as a tribute to heroes who have served the county well.

Foster stated, “I can safely say that our program is a role model for others to follow.

We have successfully completed programs at all levels to honor all heroes who have served the county well, producing a total of 15 players.”

Chancellor at the University of Guyana, Professor Edward Greene, commended the BCB for its partnership with the university and the importance of the “Wall of Fame” in paying tribute to cricketers who have made the region proud.

Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin announced that the University of Guyana would offer 20 scholarships, including four designated for cricket, with two specifically allocated to the Berbice Cricket Board.

These scholarships are open to applicants in any discipline who meet the university’s requirements.

The event also marked the launch of a new cricket manual.

The “Wall of Fame” at Tain Campus stands as a symbol of recognition and appreciation for the outstanding contributions of Berbicians to West Indies cricket.
