The Berbice Chamber of Commerce is set to commence construction of its headquarters in Region Six, following a successful fundraiser event called “Brunchin with Bosses.”
The announcement was made by the Chamber’s President, Samantha Reid, during the weekend event.
Reid emphasized that the new facility will not only benefit chamber members but will also serve as a hub for training and capacity-building programs for both large and small business owners.
The initiative is part of a long-term strategy to empower local businesses in the Berbice region by providing the necessary tools and knowledge for sustained success.
President Reid revealed that the planning process has already begun, with construction expected to start in January of the coming year.
Members of the chamber have already contributed financially, offered labor, and provided building materials for the project.
During the fundraiser, Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, highlighted the significant developments taking place within the region.
He urged the business community to identify and invest in viable and competitive business opportunities.
The Berbice Chamber of Commerce successfully raised $15 million during the fundraiser, which will be allocated to the construction of its headquarters.
As one of the oldest commercial organizations in Guyana, the chamber plays a vital role in the economic development of the region.
