Berbice Chamber of Commerce Gears Up for Headquarters Construction with Successful Fundraiser

The Berbice Chamber of Commerce is set to embark on the construction of its headquarters in Region Six, with plans to commence the project in 2024.

President of the Chamber, Samantha Reid, announced this significant development during a successful fundraiser event titled “Brunchin with Bosses” held over the weekend.

The purpose of the fundraiser was to generate funds for the construction of the chamber’s dedicated headquarters, which aims to become a central hub for various activities.

President Samantha Reid highlighted that the facility would not only serve the needs of chamber members but also function as a focal point for training and capacity-building programs for businesses of all sizes.

Reid emphasized that empowering local businesses in the Berbice region is a long-term strategy.

The chamber aims to equip businesses with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive, ensuring their sustained success and longevity in the competitive market.

The planning process for the headquarters has already commenced, with construction expected to begin in January of the upcoming year.

Members of the chamber have actively contributed to the initiative, providing financial support, labor, and building materials to make the project a reality.

During the fundraiser event, Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, encouraged the business community to identify competitive business opportunities within the region.

He stressed the importance of mobilizing capital and investing in viable and competitive ventures for long-term success.

The event proved to be a success for the Berbice Chamber of Commerce, raising $15 million during the fundraiser.

The funds collected will contribute to the construction of the chamber’s headquarters, solidifying its position as a pivotal institution for the local business community.

The Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association holds a distinguished status as one of the oldest commercial organizations in Guyana.

The construction of its headquarters reflects a commitment to fostering economic development, supporting local businesses, and providing valuable resources for entrepreneurs in the Berbice region.
