Minister Benn emphasized the importance of the quality of engagement and conduct demonstrated by members of the police force in fostering peace.

With Guyana experiencing rapid economic growth, the maintenance of peace and security at all levels is crucial, considering the potential challenges that may arise.

During the wreath-laying ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess Compound in Eve-Leary, Minister Benn, Acting Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken, and other senior officers paid tribute to the 67 fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Relatives of the fallen heroes also laid wreaths, and the ceremony included a 21-gun salute, two minutes of silence, and a reveille.

This event forms part of the celebrations commemorating the 184th anniversary of the Guyana Police Force.
