The stage is set for an exciting finale as the top two basketball teams in the country, North Ruimveldt Ravens and Victory Valley Royals, prepare to clash in the grand finale of the Guyana Basketball Federation’s (GBF) Elite 16 knockout tournament.

After four weeks of intense competition, the two undefeated teams will meet on Saturday to determine who takes home the title.

Both sides have shown remarkable resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

In their previous encounter this year during the GBF National Playoffs, the Ravens triumphed in a nail-biting 81-79 extra-time victory.

Victory Valley Royals’ captain Yannick Tappin shared his team’s plans heading into the final.

He emphasized the importance of team play and improved ball rotation, instead of relying on one-on-one tactics.

Tappin also noted that fitness had been a key factor in their previous loss to the Ravens, but assured that they are now prepared.

“We’re ready,” Tappin added confidently.

Dominic Vincente, captain of the Ravens, stated that his team’s focus will be on tightening up their defense.

“We can’t get complacent defensively. That’s something we’ve been preaching from the start, and we need to sustain that to secure the victory,” Vincente said.

Both teams have had impressive runs to the final.

The Ravens beat the Nets, the Kobras, and the Eagles, averaging 73 points per game.

The Royals, on the other hand, overcame the Guardians, UG Trojans, and KK Untouchables, averaging a remarkable 95 points per match.

The victorious team will walk away with a winner’s purse of $300,000, while the runner-up will take home $100,000.

The third-placed team will earn $50,000, and the tournament’s MVP will be awarded $25,000.
