The Ministry of Tourism organized a successful triathlon event in Bartica, aiming to boost the development of sport tourism in the country.

Athletes joined forces to compete in a challenging combination of a 100-meter swim, a 1.6 km run, and a 3 km cycling race.

The competition featured 12 teams vying for a one-million-dollar cash prize.

The trio of Jamaul John, Tyron Stellingburgh, and Tyrese Simon secured the coveted first place, narrowly defeating their rivals.

The second spot went to the team of Curtis Dey, Orlando Tracy, and Fitzroy Thom, while Alexander Leung and Kennard Profit, competing as a duo, claimed third place after their teammate was unable to participate.

In the swimming leg, top finishers Leung, Stellingburg, and Thom worked hard to give their teams an early advantage.

The athletes then faced a challenging 1.6 km run along Bartica’s roadways, followed by a final 3 km cycling race.

Cyclist Jamaul John, sharing his experience, expressed trust in his teammates’ competitiveness throughout the day.

Fitzroy Thom, representing the runners-up, expressed gratitude for being part of the event and looked forward to more challenges in the coming year.

The third-place team of Leung and Profit expressed their pleasure at achieving a top-three finish.
