Banks DIH Limited commenced the 2024 Mashramani celebrations with its annual event ‘Banks Pon De Avenue’ on Main Street.
The evening showcased performances from local artists and marked the launch of the first costume band, Heritage Band Nandre’s Kreations Nelsion Nurse.
Nelsion Nurse, the designer of Nandre’s Kreations and Heritage Band, shared insights into their participation in Mashramani 2024.
He mentioned that they aimed to set the momentum by initiating the first costume band launch, with the band named Euphoria consisting of five sections for the girls and one for the males.
Local artists who performed calypso and soca songs expressed gratitude for the ‘Banks Pon De Avenue’ platform, emphasizing its role in providing opportunities to showcase their talents during the Mashramani season.
Theodora Dehnert, known as “Kyra,” highlighted the platform’s significance in showcasing the abundance of talent in Guyana.
Roger Hinds, also known as “Young Bill Rogers,” emphasized that Banks on the Avenue provides a platform for artists to perform during the Mashramani season, showcasing various genres like calypso, chutney, and soca.
Juneann Hutson, a calypso/soca artist, expressed her happiness as an Amerindian individual, mentioning the encouragement it provides to other young Amerindian artists to come forward.
Ernesta Nelson, known as “Nesta,” praised Banks for doing a great job and acknowledged the platform’s role in giving Guyanese artists an opportunity to showcase their talent during Mashramani.
‘Banks Pon De Avenue’ will continue over the next few Fridays leading up to Mashramani, featuring various local artists to entertain the growing crowds.
