The Bangladesh cricket team completed a dominant series sweep against the West Indies in the T20 format with an impressive 80-run victory at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday evening.

The win marked a successful conclusion to their Caribbean tour.

Bangladesh, batting first, posted a commanding total of 189/7 in their 20 overs, their highest total on Caribbean soil.

Jaker Ali led the charge with an unbeaten 72 runs off 41 balls, hitting six sixes and three fours.

He was well supported by Parvez Hossain Emon, who made 39, and Mehindy Hasan Miraz with 29 runs.

The West Indies bowlers struggled to make an impact, with Roston Chase, Gudakesh Motie, and Alzarri Joseph each taking one wicket.

Despite their efforts, Bangladesh’s total proved too much to chase.

Needing 190 for victory, the West Indies fell short, being bowled out for just 109 runs in 16.4 overs.

The Caribbean team has struggled throughout the series, losing their first five wickets without reaching 50 runs in all three matches.

Romario Shepherd (33) and Johnson Charles (23) provided some resistance, but the West Indies could not mount a significant challenge.

Bangladesh’s bowlers were clinical, with Rishad Hossin claiming 3 wickets for 21 runs from his four overs.

Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan also contributed with two wickets each, helping Bangladesh seal a comprehensive 80-run victory.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell acknowledged the challenges faced during the series but emphasized the lessons learned.

“Yes, definitely, all good things must come to an end and all bad things must come to an end. It’s just disappointing that we’ve finished the year so badly as a T20 group. But when you look at the duration of the year, we’ve played some good T20 cricket, but not just for long enough periods,” Powell said.

He also noted that the team would take some time to clear their minds and return stronger for their next series.

The series sweep gives Bangladesh a well-deserved confidence boost as they leave the Caribbean, while the West Indies will need to regroup and focus on improving their T20 performances moving forward.
