In a low-scoring encounter, Australia emerged victorious in the final one-day international against the West Indies Women, clinching the series 2-0.

The West Indies struggled with the bat, managing only 103 runs in 31.4 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews contributed 23, while Rashanda Williams added a determined 25 from 71 balls.

Annabel Sutherland led the Australian bowling attack with figures of 3 for 23.

Australia comfortably chased down the target, with Phoebe Litchfield scoring 27, captain Alyssa Healy contributing 32, and an unbeaten 29 from Ellyse Perry.

They secured an eight-wicket win, finishing at 106 for 2.

Matthews emphasized the need for improved batting performances to set competitive totals.

She also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development for women’s cricket in the region to compete with top teams globally.

Looking ahead, the West Indies Women are scheduled for away series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2024, followed by the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh next September-October.
