GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, has strongly criticized Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton for urging Mocha residents to resist a recent court ruling regarding their occupation of state lands.

The Chief Justice recently ruled that seven squatters in the Mocha Arcadia/Caneview area must pay the state two million dollars in legal costs after failing to prove their claim to the lands they occupied.

In response, President Irfaan Ali has committed to engaging the affected residents and offering government assistance.

Despite this, Norton has encouraged the residents to continue pressing for ownership of the disputed lands.

Nandlall has condemned this stance, describing it as an example of poor leadership that undermines the rule of law and promotes civil disobedience.

He further questioned whether supporters of the opposition should continue following such guidance.

The Attorney General also pointed out that while Norton enjoys financial security and state-provided benefits, the squatters he advised are now facing homelessness.

He urged residents and opposition supporters to make independent decisions that serve their best interests.
