APAD to Host Emancipation Celebration and Expo

The Association of People of African Descent (APAD) is inviting everyone to join their Emancipation Celebration and Expo on August 1st at Malteenoes Sports Ground, located opposite the National Park.

The event, which begins at noon, promises a vibrant celebration of Afro-Guyanese heritage and culture, with free admission for all attendees.

The celebration will feature a performance by Jamaican singer Warrior King, alongside other artists, adding a musical touch to the festivities.

Additionally, the expo will host 21 booths showcasing various aspects of African culture, including food, health, and job opportunities.

Dr. Easton, CEO of APAD, emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage, encouraging attendees to don their traditional attire and immerse themselves in the rich history of emancipation.

He highlights that the event will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about Afro-Guyanese history while enjoying cultural performances and participating in a job fair.

The expo will include health and wellness booths, where attendees can receive check-ups and information on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Easton will also be present to engage with the community.
