Chairman of A New and United Guyana (ANUG), Dr. Mark France, has voiced his support for the government’s $100,000 cash grant initiative, which aims to assist Guyanese families, both within the country and abroad.

Dr. France praised the initiative as an important step toward ensuring the equitable distribution of the nation’s resources.

During a press conference, Dr. France affirmed ANUG’s backing of the cash grant, emphasizing that all eligible Guyanese, regardless of their location, should benefit from the program.

He called for transparency and accountability in the distribution of the funds, and urged for robust parliamentary discussions to ensure its success.

Dr. France’s remarks came as registration for the cash grant is ongoing in Regions 1, 4, 7, 8, and 9, with some recipients in Region 9 already having received the funds.

Vice President Dr. Bharat Jagdeo also reassured the public that no eligible person would be left out of the initiative.

In a press conference on Thursday, Dr. Jagdeo explained that if a region has completed 95% of registrations, the remaining individuals will be able to access the grant at a later stage through a newly set-up registration process.

The $100,000 cash grant, first announced by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in October, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide financial relief to Guyanese citizens, especially in these challenging economic times.
