Residents of Annai are on the verge of gaining access to advanced facilities for welding, commercial food preparation, and a modern computer lab, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Labour.

Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton recently conducted a site inspection at the Bina Hill Institute in Region 9, where several projects are being finalized.

An investment of 20 million Guyanese dollars has been allocated for these upgrades, which will enhance training opportunities in welding and fabrication, as well as in agro-processing and commercial food preparation.

During his visit, Minister Hamilton engaged with members of the Institute, the North Rupununi District Development Board, and various stakeholders to discuss the progress of the projects and his vision for the facilities.

In addition to the welding and food preparation areas, the Labour Ministry is upgrading a classroom into a modern learning space, which will include a computer lab equipped with 20 desktop computers and air conditioning.

This enhancement aims to improve educational resources for the youth in the community.

The new facilities are expected to bolster tourism and agro-processing in the region, contributing to local economic development.

Last year, the Ministry’s Board of Industrial Training provided training to 22 individuals in welding and commercial food preparation, and these trainees are set to pass on their skills to other community members in upcoming programs.

The Minister’s inspection highlights the government’s commitment to empowering communities through education and skills training, which will ultimately support sustainable development in Annai.
