In a thrilling encounter in the East Coast Cricket Board’s Aidan Inc. T20 tournament, Andrew Samaroo’s impressive half-century guided the Ogle Cricket Club to a decisive win against LBI.
The final round matches of the East Coast Cricket Board’s Aidan Inc. T20 cricket competition unfolded on Sunday, showcasing intense competition as the top teams vied for spots in the quarterfinals.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss at the Enmore ground, LBI set a target of 121 runs for Ogle.
Youngster Romeo Deonarine anchored the innings with a resilient 65 off 58 balls, supported by Aron Beharry (26) and Richard Dowlatram (17).
However, Ogle’s bowling attack, led by Ayodha Joseph, Francot Clarke, Deion Thomas, and Davindra Ramtahal, restricted LBI to 120 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.
In pursuit of the target, Ogle displayed solid batting prowess, with Andrew Samaroo leading the charge with a notable 57 runs.
Veteran all-rounder Khemraj Jaikaran contributed 35 runs as Ogle secured victory with six wickets in hand, reaching 125 for 4 in just 18.2 overs.
Reflecting on the match, Ogle Cricket Club Captain Davindra Ramtahal praised the team’s performance in both batting and bowling, highlighting the solid partnership that steered them to victory.
Ramtahal also commended Samaroo for his consistent batting prowess over the years, acknowledging his pivotal contribution to the team’s success.
In contrast, LBI Captain Nazam Khan lamented missed opportunities, citing dropped catches as a crucial factor that cost them the match.
With the tournament set to continue this Sunday with quarterfinal action, the competition promises more excitement and fierce competition as teams vie for the championship title.
