The pageant festivities commenced on February 18, and during the official opening ceremony, Queen Andrea King captivated audiences with her presentation titled “Guyana, Dance of the World,” showcasing the Hoatzin, locally known as the Canje Pheasant.

Departing from Guyana last Thursday, Andrea conveyed a message of gratitude to her fellow Guyanese, expressing her honor in representing the nation on the global stage.

“Representing Guyana among the nations of the world in India is an immense honor. I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase our talent, beauty, and the spirit of our nation on the global stage,” she stated.

Throughout the upcoming weeks, Andrea will engage in various rounds of competition, including talent and sports segments, competing against more than one hundred women for the coveted crown.

Beyond the pageantry, the twenty-six-year-old is passionate about financial literacy, with her project, Beauty with a Purpose, focusing on teaching children financial literacy under the theme ‘Learning about money, before earning money.’
