Andre Coley’s Final Tour as Windies Coach: Focus on Performance Against Pakistan

By Eric Collymore | January 8, 2025

West Indies head coach Andre Coley is preparing for his final tour with the Caribbean side as they take on Pakistan in a two-Test series, marking the end of his tenure at the helm.

Coley, who was appointed as interim head coach in 2022 and confirmed as the full-time coach in May 2023, has faced challenges during his time with the team.

Under his leadership, the Windies have secured just two victories, causing them to drop to ninth place in the ICC World Test Championship points table.

This upcoming series against Pakistan is especially significant as it marks the first time in 18 years that the West Indies will play a Test series in Pakistan.

The first Test is set to begin on January 17 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

In a recent interview with Windies media, Coley reflected on the past year, acknowledging that while there were some small positives, the team still has much room for improvement.

He emphasized his focus on ensuring the team performs to its best ability in this final tour.

Looking ahead, Coley shared that he is focused on building on the team’s strengths and transforming their lessons from 2024 into tangible results.

“There has been some growth, and we want to create history by making sure we leave with a better dynamic,” he stated, stressing the importance of improvement and bringing a fresh approach to the game.

The series in Pakistan offers the Windies an opportunity to end their World Test Championship cycle on a positive note, with Coley aiming for stronger performances as the team seeks to close out the season on a high.
