An Additional $1.2 Billion in Road Contracts Signed in Linden

December 6, 2024

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, attended the signing of 94 road contracts worth a total of 1.2 billion dollars at the Watooka Guest House in Linden on Friday.

The contracts are part of the Ministry of Public Works’ ongoing miscellaneous road program, aimed at improving infrastructure in the region.

Minister Edghill stated that these 94 contracts will complete all planned roadworks for the region in 2024.

Additionally, 46 drainage contracts totaling 76.7 million dollars were signed to further enhance drainage systems in Linden, which will work alongside efforts by the Community Infrastructure Improvement Project (CIIP), part-time programs, and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.

The acquisition of two small excavators for Linden was also announced to support drainage works.

Linden residents praised the government’s initiative, with locals such as Julio Barnwell expressing appreciation for the focus on quality work, and Leroy James and Roger Kyte sharing their excitement for the new opportunities in the region.

Just two weeks earlier, 408 small contractors from Region 10 had signed contracts totaling 7 billion dollars for road development projects.

The new initiatives highlight the government’s continued commitment to improving local infrastructure and providing employment opportunities to small contractors and residents in Linden.
