A diverse and captivating cultural program is scheduled to kickstart the 2023 Amerindian Heritage Month Celebrations, featuring captivating dances, enchanting songs, and a medley of other exciting performances.

Heritage Coordinator, Mohamed Nazim, expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s celebration, noting that they constantly strive to raise the bar and provide an unforgettable experience for Guyanese and visitors alike. As the event draws nearer, more details about the festivities are expected to emerge, promising an enriching cultural experience for all.

This year’s celebration includes an additional day dedicated to sports, catering to athletics, football, swimming, and cricket, with over 700 athletes poised to participate. While some events will take place at the Sophia Exhibition Centre and various locations in Georgetown, communities across Guyana will also host special activities to commemorate this year’s observance.

Nazim encouraged individuals to partake in their own heritage celebrations, emphasizing the importance of embracing and preserving the diverse yet uniquely beautiful culture of the Amerindian peoples. He emphasized that the celebratory spirit of this month should become a habitual practice as Guyanese unite to honor their cultural heritage.

Under the theme “Sustaining Our Cultural Heritage and Identity while Contributing to One Guyana,” Amerindian Heritage Month 2023 promises to be a month filled with cultural richness and a shared commitment to preserving the nation’s diverse heritage while working towards unity.
