The Amelia’s Ward Basketball Court is presently being renovated and the rehabilitative works are slated to be completed by August, 2023.
The rehabilitation of the Court comes as a result of a commitment made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in October last year to have the facility upgraded.
A sum of fifteen million dollars was awarded towards the project and the upgrades will see the erection of bleachers, installation of lights, fencing and refurbishing of the toilet facility.
Dennis Niles, a national basketball player and the CEO of Maximum Works, said the Amelia’s Ward Basketball Court is one of the main recreational spaces in the community and its expansion will be of great benefit to residents, specifically youths.
Further upgrades of the facility will see the addition of a Volleyball Court and added amenities of a kids’ park to make it more child friendly.
