Aleka Persaud Sets Sights on Paris Olympics

Olympian Aleka Persaud concluded her participation in the Pan American Games with a 7th place finish in the women’s 50-meter freestyle event at the aquatic center in Santiago, Chile.

This performance marked her final race in the competition and her lowest placement in the games.

Despite this, Aleka Persaud expressed satisfaction with her overall showing and emphasized her dedication to training for future competitions.

During the games, Persaud also competed in the 100-meter freestyle event, securing a second-place finish in her race with a time of 1 minute and 0.96 seconds.

While this performance didn’t advance her to the final, it demonstrated her competitive spirit.

Earlier in the competition, Persaud set a new national record in the women’s 100m butterfly event with a time of 1:05.75.

This achievement marked a significant improvement from her previous best of 1:07.24, set in 2022 at the Commonwealth Games.

Raekwon Noel, another participant in the games, expressed confidence in his performance, especially considering the early stage of the season and his preparation for the event.

Noel secured a spot in the finals of the men’s 400-meter freestyle heat, ultimately finishing 7th in the finals.

Additionally, he finished third in the 800-meter freestyle heat, narrowly missing qualification for the final top 5.

As the Pan American Games conclude, both Aleka Persaud and Raekwon Noel continue to set their sights on future competitions, with Aleka looking forward to the Paris Olympics next year.
