Guyana continues to make strides in enhancing its infrastructure and hospitality sector with the commissioning of the Aiden by Best Western hotel, the first of its kind in both the Caribbean and South American regions.

This modern hotel, located in Georgetown, is a testament to the country’s growing reputation as a premier destination for global investment and tourism.

During the official opening, President Dr. Irfaan Ali emphasized the significance of public-private partnerships in building world-class industries.

He acknowledged the crucial role that local institutions, particularly the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), played in making the hotel a reality.

President Ali highlighted the importance of ensuring consistency in hotel pricing, emphasizing that stable pricing is key to maintaining the confidence of international visitors and promoting the country’s economic vision.

He reiterated that Guyana’s ambition of becoming a world-class economy requires the development of top-tier infrastructure, such as the Aiden hotel, to support this vision.

Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, also spoke at the event, underscoring the hotel’s role in the continued upward trajectory of Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

She reflected on the initial skepticism surrounding the government’s commitment to investing in world-class facilities, noting that today’s record occupancy rates for local hotels validate the government’s foresight.

The Aiden hotel, she noted, will complement Guyana’s growing range of accommodations, including boutique inns, eco-lodges, and vacation rentals.

The Aiden hotel spans 74,000 square feet over nine storeys, offering 138 executive rooms.

In addition to luxury accommodations, the hotel features an executive bar and lounge, an English restaurant and bar, private dining rooms, conference rooms, and a modern gym.

It stands as the 10th addition to the Best Western brand and is an example of local content initiatives, with 60 Guyanese employees and local businesses playing key roles in its construction.

The Aiden hotel’s opening is a key milestone in Guyana’s ongoing development and a reflection of the nation’s increasing recognition as a major player in the region’s hospitality industry.
