Fifty-two employees of Zijin Mining’s subsidiary, Aurora Gold Mine (AGM), along with members of the Joint Workplace Safety and Health Committee, have completed comprehensive training to enhance workplace safety and health.

Last Wednesday, they were awarded certificates during a ceremony held in the AGM/Zijin Mining training room, graced by the presence of Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton.

The training program, a collaborative effort between the Department of Occupational Safety and Health and the NIS, aimed to equip members of the Joint Committee with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment.

During the ceremony, Minister Hamilton commended the participants for their commitment to completing the program.

He emphasized the importance of workplace safety for all employees, from management to lower-level staff, highlighting their collective responsibility to ensure that everyone returns home safely to their families at the end of each day.

Participants expressed appreciation for the training, stating that it has changed their approach to safety and health in the workplace.

Kevin Daniels, Senior Safety Officer at AGM, noted that the training has enabled them to identify hazards and implement effective mitigation strategies to prevent injuries and loss of life.

Similarly, Mark Lancaster, Superintendent of the Heavy-Duty Machine Department, emphasized how the training has enhanced his ability to identify potential risks and ensure a safer work environment for his team.

As part of the ceremony, the company was also presented with an OSH certificate valid for one year, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining high standards of workplace safety.
