Speaking with NCN News, Adriel’s great-uncle Naseed Mohamed says knowing the accused has been charged has lifted a burden from the family.I am very happy that they got him.

“I know that is the beginning of, you know, you got to get sentenced and so on. So we still trust in the Lord that he gets what he deserves,” he said.

Mohamed also sought to dismiss claims circulating on social media suggesting the accused was related to the family. He says the allegations are false and have only distracted from the tragedy that unfolded at the family’s Zealot home.

The grieving uncle said while the family is trying to cope with the loss of a child and support Adriel’s injured great-grandmother, they have also been forced to endure days of speculation and accusations online.

He is now urging persons to be mindful of the impact their comments can have on grieving relatives.

“Let people know that we are hurting in this time. And if you don’t have anything good to say, be quiet.”

Mohamed said the family remains focused on supporting one another and allowing the legal process to take its course as they continue to mourn the loss of young Adriel. The late 7-year-old Adriel Aftab Mohamed will be laid to rest on Saturday.
