His Majesty King Charles III has arrived on the shores of Guyana, marking a historic return to the country after 26 years.

The King touched down at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport approximately 2:30pm Guyana time, where he was warmly received by President Irfaan Ali and accorded a military welcome.

President Ali was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugh Todd, Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh, and heads of the disciplined services.

Following his arrival, the King inspected the Guard of Honor as part of the official welcoming ceremony.

His motorcade then departed for the capital, where he undertakes his first official engagement at State House with President Ali.

The meeting is expected to reaffirm the enduring diplomatic partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation on matters of mutual interest.

During his two-day visit, King Charles will pay tribute to fallen service personnel at the Georgetown Memorial, meet withIndigenous leaders, scientists and environmental experts.

Members of the public will also have an opportunity to be part of this historic occasion during a public engagement at the Kingston Seawall on Friday, October 30.
The King last visited Guyana in the year 2000, and his return marks another significant chapter in the longstanding relationship between Guyana and the United Kingdom, as both nations commemorate 60 years of bilateral relations.
