The Men on Mission is celebrating its fourth anniversary, marking the occasions with the handing over of a new home in Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara, to 75-year-old pensioner Abdool Nazir.

Zanita Persaud, the wife of the 75- year- old Abdool Nazir, expressed their appreciation for the new home

She recalled that in 2017 Nazir was shaken by severe kidney complication which left him temporarily bedridden.

“We are from Great Diamond lot four and now we are here at the new house and we are very happy about the house the Men on Mission give us and Thank GOD for it, if it wasn’t for Men on Mission, we would have never owned a home,” he said.

The couple had requested President Irfaan Ali’s help during a community outreach – to get a house lot, explaining that they were facing difficulties living at a relative’s house.

Meanwhile, MOM Coordinator Lieutenant Colonel Bhageshwar Murli says over the past four years, they have built homes for nearly 170 vulnerable individuals, with 161 handed over to date.

Other initiatives led by MOM include the Prison Avoidance System, which supports incarcerated individuals and their families especially children to foster better life choices and the Youth Empowerment Program which serves about 25 vulnerable youthsfrom Georgetown, hinterland, and riverine communities by providing daily meals, homework assistance, literacy and math lessons, life skills training, and sports.
