-says major investments aimed at improving reliability

President Dr. Irfaan Ali says he understands the frustration of Guyanese dealing with electricity outages, acknowledging that some disruptions are unacceptable.

The President says major investments are underway to strengthen the electricity system and provide the more reliable service consumers expect.

For households dealing with interrupted power and businesses facing disruptions to their operations, the reliability of electricity remains a major concern. President Dr. Irfaan Ali acknowledged those concerns during his press conference on Monday, saying the current level of service is not where either citizens or the Government expect it to be.

As such the President says the Government is working to address the electricity problems through major investments across the electricity sector.

The focus is not only on generating more power, but strengthening the infrastructure needed to move that electricity reliably to homes and businesses. That includes investments in transmission and distribution systems, substations and other critical GPL infrastructure as electricity.

The President says these investments are intended to build a stronger network capable of keeping pace with Guyana’s growing electricity needs.

For consumers, the objective is a more dependable power supply, fewer disruptions and a system capable of supporting the needs of households and businesses as the economy expands. President Ali says Government will continue investing in generation and the wider GPL network to deliver the improvements consumers expect.
