Wednesday’s fire, which destroyed Regent Household Electronics has left thirty-two employees without a workplace.

But Proprietor Shaeed Hamid says the situation is only temporary.

He says the fire has left him devastated, but he is figuring out how to pick up the pieces.

He also stated that 32 staff members have been affected by the fire; however, their jobs remain secure once things return to normal.

The employees came out in their numbers this morning to lend their support.

The Guyana Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene shortly before 2 PM yesterday, with firefighters arriving within minutes.

Deputy Fire Chief Dwayne Scotland told NCN News that crews quickly surrounded the building and mounted a coordinated operation to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring structures.

Regent Household Electronics was destroyed by fire in October 2009, 17 years ago.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
