Sigma Engineers Ltd Inc. has rejected allegations made by Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed concerning the company and its operations in Guyana and says it has engaged legal counsel with the intention of pursuing legal action.
In a statement issued today, Sigma described the allegations as serious misrepresentations of the facts and said it wanted to clarify several issues raised publicly.
The company disputed claims surrounding its establishment, stating that Sigma Engineers Ltd has been incorporated and operating in Bangladesh since 2003.
The statement said that Sigma Engineers Ltd Inc. was registered in Guyana on October 6, 2022, and received its first contract in Guyana in 2026 following what the company said was a national competitive bidding process conducted through the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB).
Sigma also clarified the role of Mohamed Aqtar Ali, saying he serves as a senior technical consultant to its Guyana operation and has no affiliation with the company in Bangladesh.
The statement comes in response to recent public comments by Mohamed concerning the company and its operations in Guyana.
Sigma said it remains committed to operating in accordance with Guyana’s laws and maintaining high standards of professionalism, accountability and integrity.
The company said further information regarding its operations and the issues raised would be provided as it continues consultations with its legal counsel.
