The Government is reviewing contracts related to the Port Kaituma wharf project as part of its broader response to the MV Barima tragedy.

Attorney General Anil Nandlall said his chambers is examining the contractual arrangements for the wharf that was intended to accommodate the MV Ma Lisha.

He explained that legal action will be considered if the review uncovers evidence of negligence by any party involved in the project’s design, supervision or execution.

The review forms part of a wider effort by several state agencies to determine accountability and address issues arising from the tragedy.

The Government has said all necessary legal and administrative measures will be taken based on the findings of the review.
