Government Ministers and other officials gathered in New Amsterdam, Berbice, earlier today to pay their final respects as the Chief Engineer of the ill-fated MV Barima was laid to rest.
His body was wheeled into The Wesleyan Church in a solemn procession led by family members, friends, and colleagues.
Many, including Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“To lose someone we love is always painful but to lose them so suddenly is more painful. Today as I look at Paul’s family I see grief that no parent, no relative, no child should ever have to bear,” the minister said.

The 44-year-old, fondly called “Scooby,” dedicated nearly three decades of service to the Transport and Harbours Department.
He is survived by his wife, children, and other relatives, who now mourn his passing.
