Four Points by Sheraton, located at 502 Caneview Avenue along the Heroes Highway, was officially opened today by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, marking another milestone in Guyana’s expanding hospitality sector.
The hotel is owned by Mauricio Van Dam and financed by IDB Invest. Van Dam said the investment reflects confidence in Guyana’s future, noting the developers saw a clear opportunity and remain committed to supporting the country’s development.
The Guyanese-themed hotel features a conference facility, retail center, restaurants, solar-powered energy systems, and a water treatment plant, positioning it as an activity hub for the area. Its color palette was designed to reflect Guyana’s rivers and forests.

In his address, President Ali lauded the investors as well as the community and everyone else who collaborated to make the Sheraton a reality. He also teased future projects from the investors.
“We want to take the next project forward and to see how we can have the first maybe Four Points nature resort, all-inclusive resort here in Guyana. So let’s take that conversation forward. We already have IDB Invest in the room, and of course, we have your confidence. I want us to really applaud that type of thinking when you talk about local content,” the president said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, noted that with this opening, Guyana now boasts its fourth Marriott-branded hotel.
“Since 2020, Guyana has welcomed properties such as the courtyard by Marriott, the AC Marriott, the now Four Points by Sheraton, bringing the total number of Marriott-branded hotels in Guyana to four. This is a remarkable shift in a relatively short period of time, driven by investor confidence, market demand, and the clear trajectory of Guyana’s tourism and business travel sectors,” she said.
