The Ministry of Health will launch a new universal healthcare voucher program in Linden, Region 10, in March 2025.
This initiative aims to provide citizens with the opportunity to undergo medical tests at both private and public health facilities, ensuring access to essential baseline health data.
In addition to the new universal healthcare voucher, the Ministry has expanded its existing eye-testing and spectacles voucher program.
The age eligibility for eye screenings and spectacles vouchers has been lowered from 65 to 50 years.
Last year, approximately 60,000 Guyanese had their eyes checked, with 55,000 receiving $15,000 each for the purchase of spectacles.
The universal healthcare voucher program, announced in the 2025 budget, is part of a $5 billion initiative expected to benefit around 500,000 people across the country.
