Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has emphasized the need for better oversight and coordination in the implementation of construction projects across the country.
He expressed concern over the inconvenience caused to citizens due to poorly managed roadworks and other infrastructure developments.
Dr. Jagdeo stressed that while rapid infrastructure expansion is necessary for national development, it must be executed in an organized manner to minimize disruptions to the public.
He pointed out that the lack of proper planning and monitoring has led to unnecessary discomfort for thousands of citizens.
The Vice President called for more frequent site visits and stricter oversight to ensure that construction projects are efficiently managed.
He criticized the current approach, where roads and other essential infrastructure are dug up without adequate consideration for the impact on daily life.
He also highlighted concerns regarding agencies such as the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), which he claimed often disrupt newly constructed roads due to inadequate planning and coordination.
Dr. Jagdeo urged relevant authorities to improve their project management strategies to ensure that infrastructure developments are both sustainable and efficient.
The government continues to push for enhanced oversight and coordination in the construction sector to ensure that projects are completed with minimal inconvenience to the public while maintaining high-quality standards.
