Expectations High for Caribbean Boxing Championships

February 11, 2025

With the Caribbean Boxing Championships set to take place later this month, Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) President Steve Ninvalle has expressed confidence in the national team’s ability to reclaim the title.

The tournament, scheduled for February 27 to March 3 in St. Lucia, will feature top fighters from across the region.

Guyana previously won the championship in 2018 and secured a third-place finish at the last edition, held in Trinidad and Tobago in 2019.

After a prolonged break, the team is eager to make a strong return to the ring.

Among the standout boxers selected for the tournament are Keevin Allicock and Desmond Amsterdam, both of whom have represented Guyana internationally.

They will be joined by Leon Albert, Septon Barton, Quince Boyce, Clifton Graham, Travis Inveraray, Dwayne July, Colin Lewis, Orlando Norton, Emma Noel Pompey, Ronaldo Sutton, Zidan Wray, and Joel Williamson.

The team has been actively preparing for the championships, with high expectations of delivering a strong performance and bringing the title back to Guyana.
