GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – The African Cultural and Development Association (ACDA) is celebrating African History Month this February with an exhibition at its head office in Thomas Lands, Georgetown.

The exhibition highlights African contributions to nation-building and promotes awareness of African culture in Guyana.

Since the early 1990s, ACDA has been commemorating African History Month as part of a broader effort to recognize the historical achievements of people of African descent.

While Black History Month originated in the United States, the observance has expanded globally, including in Guyana.

As part of the celebration, ACDA has been conducting outreach programs in African communities, schools, and organizations to share historical insights.

The association’s Centre of Learning and Afro-Centric Orientation (COLAACO) also integrates African history into its curriculum, ensuring students learn about the contributions of their African ancestors alongside the standard education syllabus.

The African History Month exhibition is open to the public on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The exhibition will run until Friday, February 28.
